Scope Of Electrical & Electronics Engineering

In simple terms, Electrical Engineering is a branch of Engineering that deals with concepts related to electricity and electric machinery such as- generation, transmission and use of electricity, electromagnetism, equipment like generator, motors, transformers, AC Current, DC Current, circuit networks, control systems etc.

To get a better idea about what the course is actually like, let us take a look at some of the important subjects present in Electrical Engineering course.

Types Of Job Roles Electrical Engineer

The most popular electrical engineering job profiles are given below:

  • Micro Electrical Engineer: They deal with the design and micro fabrication of tiny electronic circuit components.
  • Electrical Engineer: The electrical engineer work in function of the variety of functional groups that are involved in the production, development, and implementation of electrical production.
  • Power Engineer: The power engineer are responsible for the design of electrical designers such as transformers, power electronics, generators, motors etc.
  • Instrumentation Engineer: They deal with the design of measuring devices for pressure, temperature, and flow.
  • Telecommunications Engineer: Telecommunications engineer deal with the transmission of information through the optical fiber or via cable
  • Electrical Design Engineer: Electrical design engineer design a new electrical system for various applications. They are mainly responsible for developing system specifications and layouts.

Apart from the above, new jobs are being generated in different fields pertaining to Design & Development, Scientific Research, Maintenance, Infrastructure and Manufacturing

Infrastructure

Laboratory Facilities

Electrical Machines Laboratory

To impart knowledge on Principle of operation and performance of Synchronous motor. To impart knowledge on Construction, principle of operation and performance of induction machines. To impart knowledge on Starting and speed control of three- phase induction motors.

Electronic Devices and Circuits Laboratory

This lab is well provided with equipment like Cathode Ray Oscilloscopes (CRO), Digital Oscilloscopes, Regulated DC power supplies (RPS), Function Generators and Digital and Analog meters of a wide range. This lab gives practical observation on different basic applications of electronic devices.

Microcontroller Laboratory

microcontroller unit (MCU) is a small computer on a single integrated circuit. A microcontroller contains one or more CPUs (processor cores) along with memory and programmable input/output peripherals. Program memory in the form of ferroelectric RAM, NOR flash or OTP ROM is also often included on chip, as well as a small amount of RAM. Microcontrollers are designed for embedded applications, in contrast to the microprocessors used in personal computers or other general purpose applications consisting of various discrete chips

Various control operations are to be performed on the electrical machines to suits the industrial requirements. Technicians are mainly employed to look after the control panels. To make our students employable, they have to be trained in using various control components and circuits. This subject fulfills the requirements

Power Electronics Laboratory

Apply the engineering fundamental knowledge to identify, formulate, design and investigate complex engineering problems of electric circuits, power electronics, electrical machines and power systems and to succeed in competitive exams like GATE, IES, GRE, TOEFL, GMAT, etc.

Wiring and Winding Laboratory

Students will able to handle basic electrical and electronics equipment’s. Residential house wiring using fuse, switch, indicator, lamp and energy meter. This laboratory imparts the knowledge of An “electrical power system” that can be defined as a network of electrical components used to supply, transform, transfer, and distribute electrical energy. They also learn about an “electrical wiring system” responsible for powering specific elements within a system that need electricity to work.

Computer-based representations and simulations of natural phenomena and Cognitive research has shown that feedback is fundamental to learning. My college computer lab is very special because it incorporates a great many of essential and useful features in itself. The lab houses more than 60 computers and the computers in the lab have the recent versions of the software. It has a hard writing surface on each computer table, so that the students have no problem while taking notes. My college computer lab also has a high speed internet with which helps us greatly in doing any research work. It also has a whiteboard and flip chart sheets as well as markers for making it simpler to teach for the teachers. Additionally, the college computer lab has convenient air circulation system. A good air circulation system is quite important in a computer lab for mainly two reasons, firstly so as to protect the components from overheating and secondly for the comfort of the users.
